World Healing Day is coming up on April 30th. Also, known as World Reiki Day. There are many healing modalities that celebrate and honor this day around the world to bring peace and inner healing to others. Promoting mind-body practices for everyone to know is important in creating a world with healthier people.
In this article, I will be answering basic questions about Reiki healing energy. I have been a Reiki healer since 2012. I received my Level 1 certification and attunement here in South Florida. Many people ask me, how or where I found Reiki.
How I Became A Reiki Healer
Earlier that year, I began receiving energy healing from a close friend. In one of our sessions she mentioned that she had another healer friend who she thought I could benefit from. She asked me if I would you be comfortable with that? I jumped with excitement and said yes! I didn’t ask questions, I just felt the energy. At our following meeting I met the guy who would become my Reiki Master and now friend. I asked him if Reiki could help me with a hormonal issue I was having. He said: “yes, but it’s going to take many sessions. I recommend that you learn Reiki so that you can learn to heal yourself.” I was a little nervous about that but with the class being a month away I had enough time to think.
Prior to me asking him this question, I had gone to doctors that were fighting with each other about my treatment. The whole time I was in treatment I felt awful, both physically and emotionally. I was uncomfortable with my hormonal imbalance when it was untreated but with the treatment I was way worse! I thought, I’ve tried the science route with specialized doctors for over 5 years and nothing has helped, on top of that they can’t even agree on what’s the best treatment. It was like they were playing a guessing game with my body. I decided to go for the Reiki certification instead.
I did work on self-healing, and it did take a lot of sessions, and I finally feel comfortable with what I used to call a hormonal imbalance. I can’t say it’s fully healed but it sure feels like it. The way I experience my menstrual cycle sounds like I’m an alien. Barely any cramps, no mood-swings, over in 3-4 days at best, on schedule. The only thing I deal with is fatigue on the first day and I just take it easy that day. It has taken energy healing, releasing thought-patterns, and finally learning about the food that exacerbate the imbalance. The healing journey is a long one and the sooner you can start the better you’ll be for it.
What is Reiki Healing Energy?
Reiki healing energy is a healing modality originally from Japan. The founder of this modality is Dr. Mikao Usui. The term Reiki is actually made up of two Japanese words: “Rei” meaning God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power and “Ki” meaning life force energy (also spelled as Chi). As a Reiki healer, from my experience the practice of Reiki energy healing means the life force given by God’s wisdom.
This healing technique works to reduce stress in our bodies and promotes relaxation. The theory is that when the body is relaxed and it feels safe it will begin to heal itself in the same manner that our skin heals a cut on its own. The same principle is available for our entire body under the proper conditions.
Boost Your Self-Esteem Month
February is International Boost Your Self-Esteem Month. It is dedicated to helping people around the world learn ways in which they can boost their self-esteem. The way I know how to help people in this area, and what has worked for me has been energy healing, specifically Reiki energy healing. In this article I will point out how Reiki energy healing can help you overcome any blocks you may be experiencing when it comes to boosting your self-esteem. This information came to me as a vision and I saw how the chakras are connected to our communication, support, respect, and skill building abilities.
What is Self-Esteem?
Self-esteem is how you think and feel about yourself. People with high self-esteem are considered to be confident, strong in the face of challenges, and supportive of others. One develops self-esteem in two main ways; the first way is through external validation; these are the messages we receive from others about ourselves. About who we are and our abilities. When someone compliments you that increases your self-esteem. Other people can help build us up or break us down and in turn we can do the same for others. Giving other people compliments or recognizing them for something they’ve done can also make us feel good and in turn boost our self-esteem. The second way; is through our internal influence which is determined by the quality of our thoughts and feelings about who we think we are. It is important to use both ways in a balanced manner to become both a confident and loving person.
How I Worked On My Self-Esteem with Energy Healing
I remember sitting in my first therapist’s office, at the age of 13 or 14, completely confused and unable to say much when the therapist asked me to name any positive qualities I thought I had. I may have said, “I’m good at drawing” after several minutes of silence. But I’m not sure. At the time that’s all I could have tangibly seen was true about me. I don't remember much about that year of therapy other than being given anti-depressants, which I took for 10 years.
